Honda Marine believes that ultra-low emission levels are essential to the protection of our global waterways.
Honda Marine is a proud partner with environmental organizations whose members work and volunteer to protect our planet’s natural resources.
We salute the efforts of these organizations:
Living Lands & Waters
Foundation, East Moline, Illinois
Living Lands aids in the protection, preservation and restoration of the natural
environment of the nation's major rivers and their watersheds.
In 1997, Chad Pregracke (a commercial diver at the time) decided to clean up what
he considers home – the Mississippi River. Leaving his full time job behind
and garnering support along the way, Chad and a band of volunteers have cleaned
up over 1200 miles of Mississippi River bank and have since added the Illinois River
to their incredible mission.
Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper,
Atlanta, Georgia
The Riverkeeper’s mission is to advocate and secure the protection and stewardship
of the Chattahoochee River, its tributaries, and watershed in order to maintain
its environmental integrity and to preserve the natural, scenic, and recreational
character of the river corridor.
South Riverkeeper,
Annapolis, Maryland
This dedicated group of more than 500 members preserves, protects and restores the
South River and its ecosystem through monitoring and assessment, education and enforcement,
restoration, outreach, and promotion of responsible stewardship.
Assateague Coastkeeper,
Berlin, Maryland
This on-water, privately funded advocate protects the quality of the coastal bays
for generations to come.
The River Project, New
York, New York
The River Project has operated a private marine monitoring station since 1986 at
Pier 26 on the Hudson River in New York. This scientific organization is dedicated
to the protection and restoration of Hudson River wildlife through scientific research,
education and hands-on programs in urban ecology. The Marine Biology Internship
Program offers opportunities for students to become directly involved in the protection
of significant urban wildlife and habitat.
Tampa Baywatch, Tampa,
Florida
Tampa Baywatch, Inc., a non-profit environmental stewardship program, needed a boat
that was friendly to the bay’s environment and that could withstand operation
by a crew of volunteers. Twin Honda 4-stroke 75 hp engines, altered to run on compressed
natural gas, were the organization’s choice to power a 23’ catamaran
that they used to patrol Tampa Bay.
San Francisco BayKeeper,
San Francisco, California
With help from Honda, in 1998 San Francisco BayKeeper launched the first power boat
on the entire West Coast with the capacity for fueling with clean burning compressed
natural gas (CNG). The new San Francisco-based pollution patrol boat replaced the
original BayKeeper boat which had logged nearly 100,000 miles patrolling the Bay
for pollution sources, and carrying out BayKeeper's high visibility citizen monitoring
program to detect and elliminate pollution in the Bay and Delta.
Mote Marine Laboratory, Sarasota,
Florida
Mote Marine Laboratory has been a leader in marine research since it was founded
in 1955. Today, they incorporate public outreach as a key part of their mission.
Mote is an independent nonprofit organization and has seven centers for marine research,
the public Mote Aquarium, and an Education Division specializing in public programs
for all ages.
